The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, declared on Tuesday that his father, Asif Ali Zardari, will be their nominee for president. Following a two-day meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee, he made this statement. According to the constitution, they are entitled to hold important posts, Bilawal said. He thinks Asif Ali Zardari, his father, is capable of handling the issues the nation is now experiencing.

The PPP would not participate in any coalition administration, according to Bilawal. Rather, they would remain in opposition and back the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) nominee for prime minister. In order to avoid political issues, Bilawal acknowledged that the PPP does not have enough support to form a government and that they would rather assist the PML-N candidate.

Top PPP officials had warned Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto the day before not to form a government with the PML-N. They recommended that the PPP continue to oppose.

PPP should respect independent candidates’ decisions and refrain from forming a coalition government, according to members of the Central Executive Committee, since this may damage their political reputation. Talking to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rather than the PML-N was also suggested by some.
