The UN Chief, Qatari Emir, and Saudi Crown Prince congratulate Shehbaz Sharif on becoming Pakistan’s new prime minister

Congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif for winning the prime ministership once more and winning a second term.

On March 4, 2024, the 72-year-old Sharif took office as the 24th Prime Minister, and global leaders congratulated him on winning the election.


On PM Sharif’s appointment, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud sent him heartfelt congratulations. MBS wished Shehbaz Sharif luck and the people of Pakistan continued advancement and prosperity in his felicitation message.

Meanwhile, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani congratulated a seasoned Pakistani politician for taking the reign of a South Asian nation for the second time.

Sheikh Thani sent a cable of felicitation to the premier, wishing him success and further development and growth of bilateral ties.

On Monday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was also among the leaders who felicitated Prime Minister Sharif and congratulated him on his election. He felicitated the premier and conveyed his good wishes.

Raisi expressed hope that the prime minister of Pakistan will make every effort to steer the nation toward development and prosperity. Also, the Iranian President was invited by the Prime Minister to Pakistan in the near future.

Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, also sent Shehbaz Sharif well wishes. He said he was looking forward to working together on a number of projects.

The UN Chief’s spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, congratulated Prime Minister Sharif on his appointment and expressed hope for ongoing cooperation with the nation on all fronts in a statement.
