A hamstring injury sustained by Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan during the current T20I series against New Zealand is a major blow.

Rizwan got wounded during the third Twenty20 International match when he was batting due to an injury that happened during play.

After a medical assessment, the team physician cautioned Rizwan against playing in the series going forward, emphasising the need for rest and recuperation to guarantee a full recovery.

The Pakistani squad would feel Rizwan’s absence very much, especially considering how well he performed in earlier games. Notably, Rizwan, who was excellent with both the bat and the gloves, contributed significantly to Pakistan’s resounding victory in the second T20I.

His outstanding performance led to an important milestone: he broke the records held by India’s Virat Kohli and his colleague Babar Azam to become the fastest player to achieve 3000 T20I runs. This accomplishment, which Rizwan accomplished in just 79 innings, solidified his place among the top batters in T20 cricket.

Rizwan was in incredible form before his injury, routinely leading Pakistan to victories in games. In the current series against New Zealand, Pakistan’s success has been largely attributed to him.

In order to preserve their lead and defeat the Kiwi team in the remaining games, Pakistan will need to regroup and modify their strategy in light of Rizwan’s injury.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, stated the team’s will to continue winning after the team’s triumph in the second Twenty20 International. Babar emphasised the need to get off to a solid start and complimented Pakistan’s bowling unit on their excellent effort in containing the opposition.
