The federal government has announced to give shots of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and Pakistani students living abroad and workers on an urgent basis.

While talking to the press, Federal Planning Minister, Asad Umar, told that the decision has been made to ease Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and foreign students and workers in countries that do not accept vaccination documentations of Chinese COVID-19 vaccines.

The Minister observed that the first consignment covering 106,000 doses of Pfizer’s mRNA vaccine with the COVAX program, a global objective meant to provide reasonable access to COVID-19 vaccines led by GAVI, arrived Pakistan last week.

1 million additional shots of Pfizer’s COVID-19 shot will reach the country in July or August as the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had been in communication with the New York-based medicinal company for few couple of months for direct attainment of the vaccine.
