New market timings announced amidst rising covid cases

The federal government has announced to close schools in areas where the COVID-19 positivity ratio has risen up to 5% and limited office timings to 2pm with 50% work from home strategy.

Talking to the press about the measures taken by the National Coordination Committee (NCC) to control the spread of coronavirus, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar said a complete plan will be arranged after discussion with the provinces in case lockdowns become essential insome cities.

“All schools will be closed in cities where the positivity ratio is above 5% till Eid. Classes 9-12 will also not be held in-person,” he stated.

He further mentioned that outdoor dining will also be banished till Eid and only takeaway is permissible.

Indoor gyms have also been told to close down based on the new restraints.

Asad Umar stated that markets will be shut by 6pm excluding the necessary services and a list will be issued of those trades that are permitted to work.

“The 50% work from home policy will continue,” he further mentioned.

He also advised the crowds to not wait for the last three days of Ramadan for Eid shopping so as to escape a haste in marketplaces.

 “[Matters relating to] passengers’ testing and quarantine will also be decided,” he said.
