President Arif Alvi addressed the wahdat-e-ummat conference at Aiwan-e-Sadr, during which he put emphasis on the need for religious harmony all across Pakistan and acts such as extremism, terrorism, vandalism, or killings for the sake of religion has never been Islam.

No Islamic sect can be called “non-muslim” and the matter of blasphemy should be dealt in accordance to law.

He said “No speaker, preacher, or zakir will insult the prophets, Ahl-al-Bait in their speech,”

“If someone makes blasphemous remarks then all schools of thought will declare their disassociation with that preacher. No one will insult Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) companions, the righteous caliphs, the wives of the Prophet (PBUH),” He added.

He stressed that action should be taken against those who disrespect and violate the religious place, properties, or lives of the minorities.
