AML leader and Pakistan’s interior minister, Sheikh Rashid, was admitted to the hospital when a major politician in Adiala Jail started to show signs of illness.

According to reports, the 73-year-old experienced chest pain, so jail officials sent him to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology for treatment.

A thorough physical check will be performed at RIC to determine the level of experience of a seasoned politician.

According to reports, the decision on his release from Adiyala jail would depend on the results of his medical examination.

The Awami Muslim League (AML) leader was detained one week before when a judge refused to grant him bail in the violence case involving May 9. After his bail was disposed of in the violence case that the New Town Police station had filed against him, the Rawalpindi police brought him into custody outside of court.

On May 9, a large number of PTI supporters assaulted public buildings and military sites following the arrest of former party chairman Imran Khan in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust issue.
