UAE Announces Visa Bans for 20 African Countries

According to DW Africa, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has prohibited issuing visas to visitors from 20 African nations, including Ghana, Nigeria, and Sudan.

Details reveal that many tourists from these nations overstayed their visas, frequently working illegally in the UAE.

Nigeria announced a month ago that residents under the age of 40 would not be granted tourist visas to the UAE. This was due to a change in UAE visa policies that prohibited issuing tourist visas to younger Nigerians unless they were travelling to join their families.

The fact that there have previously been restrictions on travel from African nations to Dubai is also noteworthy.

Eight African countries were prohibited from travelling to or transiting through Dubai as of December 29, 2021, according to Emirates, a well-known airline based in Dubai. It arrived as a result of worries regarding the COVID-19 Omicron variant. Ghana, Uganda, and Kenya were among the nations on the list at that time.
