Cricket World Cup 2023 captain Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh is out due to an injury to his left index finger.

On November 6, 2023, in Delhi, Shakib was injured while batting in Bangladesh’s last league stage match against Sri Lanka. With a brilliant 82 off 65 balls, he gave his team the advantage against the Lankans.

Following the game, an X-ray revealed a fracture, ruling him out of Bangladesh’s last tournament encounter against Australia in Pune on November 11.

Bayjedul Islam Khan, the National Team Physio, provided more information on the injuries.

“Shakib sustained a blow to his left index finger early in the batting game, but he persevered by using painkillers and supportive tape,” the statement read.

“After the game, he had an emergency X-ray in Delhi, which verified the left PIP joint fracture. Three to four weeks is the predicted time of recovery. He’s going to start his rehabilitation today and head to Bangladesh.
