Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s top javelin thrower and 2023 World Athletics Championship silver medalist, paid Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a visit on Tuesday.

The prime minister gave Arshad Nadeem a monetary reward of Rs. 2.5 million and complimented him on his commitment to the sport.

According to Sharif, the nation has a great deal of sporting ability that has to be developed. He emphasized the need to concentrate on sports promotion in rural regions.

Nadeem told the prime about his accomplishments and sporting career. The sportsman stated that he took part in the youth event after beginning his career in 2012. He represented Pakistan by competing in a variety of international competitions.

He praised the prime minister’s meeting as highly productive and outlined many initiatives to advance sports in the nation.

Attaullah Tarar, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Minister of State for IT and Telecom, Romeena Khurshid Alam, the Member of the Punjab Assembly, and Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan were present at the meeting.

On August 28, 2023, Arshad created history by being the first Pakistani to win a medal at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary, with a throw of 87.82 meters. Neeraj Chopra of India won the gold medal thanks to a best throw of 88.17 meters.

Nadeem’s knee injury later in October of last year destroyed the nation’s prospects of winning another medal at the Asian Games. The javelin ace had successful elbow surgery in London in December 2022.

The athlete resumed training earlier in the month in preparation for representing his nation in the July 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, following knee surgery performed in the UK.
