No extracurricular activates in Punjab

The Punjab government has limited all the co-curricular activities in educational institutes in seven areas as a result of rising COVID-19 cases, a notice given out on Monday mentioned.

Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas brought up the announcement on Twitter declaring the ban on all such happenings.

He said: “Restrictions on Co-Curricular activities in the 7 Districts stated in the notification due to COVID 19. No Gala, sports activities or public gatherings,”

Based on the info from the notice, no co-curricular activity such as any kind of sports and more shall be carried out in those areas where the COVID-19 positivity quotient is found to be over 20 cases including Lahore, Gujrat, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad subject to the recommencement of the regularity of educational activities.

The notification further read: “All to ensure SOPs compliance in letter and spirit, as already conveyed.”

On Feb 26, Murad Raas had reported that schools in these areas would follow alternative day way of schooling until April 1 as a result of increased coronavirus prevalence there while consistent sessions would start again in other areas.

The resulting scenario will be observed again on March 31, the notification mentioned.

The situation will be reviewed again so that further decision could be made on the matter of continuity of schools reopening
