On October 13th Apple introduced the all-new 6’1 inch iPhone 12, 5’4 inch iPhone 12 mini, 6’1 inch iPhone 12 Pro and it’s larger sized, premium variant – the 6’7 inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. All four of Apple’s newly released products are 5G enabled, allowing customers to enjoy the super fast download and browsing speeds when paired with a 5G carrier’s network. Apple has slightly changed the design of the iPhone by replacing the rounded side frame with a flatter, straight, aluminum side frame, similar to the iPhone 5s. A new navy blue color has also been added as well as a variety of changes to the rear camera, processor and other features.
The iPhone 12 comes with a dual rear camera. There’s a 12MP wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture and a 12MP ultra-wide shooter with a f/2.4 aperture and 120-degree field of view. Apple claims that the new camera offers a 27% improvement in low-light situations compared to iPhone 11.
The new iPhone 12 is powered by a new A14 Bionic chipset which Apple says is 40% more powerful than the iPhone 11’s A13 chip, claiming it to be “the fastest chip ever in a smartphone”.
The screen is still the same on all iPhones as their last generation’s model, featuring the infamous notch design. Apple is now offering an OLED display for all the newly released iPhones which is an upgrade over last year’s LCD panel which was offered with the iPhone 11 whereas the Pro versions were still equipped with an OLED display.
Potential customers are not happy with Apple’s decision to remove the power brick and the standard headphones from the box, making them basic accessories which have to be purchased separately. Pre-orders are set to launch October 16th and the iPhone 12 and Pro version will officially launch October 23rd whereas the Mini and Pro Max will go on sale November 6th.
