Mohsin Naqvi is Most Likely to Become PCB Chairman

There is going to be a leadership transition at the PCB, as Mohsin Naqvi is expected to become chairman in the next elections, which might happen as early as next week.

Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), resigned shortly before his most recent three-month extension came to an end, leaving a vacancy. The IMC was first assigned in July of the preceding year with the responsibility of completing the Board of Governors (BoG) and holding chairman elections in four months.

The PCB’s patron, interim Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar, granted the committee an extra three months as this could not be completed in the allotted period.

It has been announced that Mohsin Naqvi, the temporary chief minister of Punjab, will be the candidate to take over as chairman of the board of governors when the present one steps down. Naqvi is anticipated to stay in administration, even if elected, until Pakistan’s national elections on February 8.

Shah Khawar, the PCB election commissioner, is in temporary control of chairman duties and is scheduled to call a meeting to explain the PCB election timeline. The tenure of the chosen chairman is three years.

It will be the end of a year without a properly elected PCB head if Naqvi, who has no prior experience in cricket administration, wins the position.
