Only 3% of candidates, including the pair who will go down in history, Dr. Hajra Niaz and Huzaifa Mughal, were able to pass the Central Superior Service (CSS) written test in 2023, the results of which were revealed last week.

As they announced the news on social media, Dr. Hajra Niaz and her spouse, Huzaifa Mughal, realised their ambition of joining the government service together. Dr. Hajra will be assigned to the Inland Revenue Services, while Huzaifa Mughal is hoping to join the Pakistani Police Service.

During her second year of MBBS, Dr. Hajra described her experience when Huzaifa proposed. She said that Huzaifa had given her the assurance that they would realise their aspirations together.

Subsequently, the girl achieved other accolades, such as the PM Innovation Award, the KPK Innovation Award, 19 essay prizes, and BBC exposure.

The pair received a tonne of support on social media after passing the challenging exam for the first time. The pair inspired generations with their appearances in various TV series.

Speaking on her experience, Dr. Hajra described how academics found CSS difficult because she was also involved in mental health and social entrepreneurship.

The KP government presented her with the Youth Innovation Award in 2018. She has also contributed to the UNDP’s efforts to support acid survivors and the transgender community.

In addition to founding the Students’ Organisation for Counselling, Rehabilitation, Art Therapy, Education, and Support (SOCRATES), Dr. Hajra also brought back the Karakorum journal of Ayub Medical College and formed the Ayubian Literary and Arts Forum (ALAF).
