It was the first Sikh wedding ceremony at the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib since the Kartarpur corridor was established.

According to reports, Sardar Gobind Singh, the head of the Gurdwara, officiated the marriage of Arjun Singh, who is from a Sialkot neighborhood, and Amar Kaur.

PMU Kartarpur officials as well as the couple’s relatives attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Gobind Singh stated that the Sikh community performs the wedding rites in the Gurdwara. He claimed that since the Karatpur Corridor opened in 2019, this was the first wedding.

It should be noted that Pakistan has not yet put the legislation governing Sikh marriage registration into effect. The Sikh Marriage Act of 2018 was adopted by the Punjab Assembly, but it would take more than six years to come into effect.
