In January of last year, the Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP), a well-liked tourist destination in the region, received protection guidelines from the Islamabad High Court.

As a result, progress on drawing up the national park’s boundaries is accelerating, with the CDA Land Directorate recently finishing up identifying the acquired land.

The MHNP’s land record has also been provided by the CDA Land Directorate, and the ICT administration is currently working to identify private land. Land demarcation is currently being done in the area by ICT teams.

All concerned departments have been told by CDA’s Environment Directorate to provide records of reserve forests and military land by April 10 in compliance with the court’s directives.

The same deadline has been set for The Survey of Pakistan to complete office work for MHNP land records. In collaboration with the CDA and ICT, the Pakistan Survey will review land records.

The physical demarcation of the MHNP will be carried out by the Survey of Pakistan after Eid-ul-Fitr. The CDA Chairman has instructed all departments to finish the work as soon as possible, highlighting the need to adhere to deadlines for the distinction of the national park.

All teams for the work on the demarcation lines will be led by Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, Director of the CDA Environment Department. On January 11, 2022, the IHC mandated the demarcation of the MHNP.

Since the MHNP is a well-liked tourist destination, it is crucial to safeguard the area’s ecosystem and wildlife. The park will hopefully be better safeguarded and preserved for future generations to enjoy with the help of these regulations and identification efforts.
