As a result of the fuel supply constraints brought on by unpaid debts, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had to cancel 49 more flights on Wednesday.

After Pakistan State Oil (PSO) reduced its fuel supply to the PIA, reports claim that up to 49 domestic and international flights have been canceled from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Multan, Peshawar, and other locations.

The cancelled flights included those from Karachi to Islamabad (PK 300, PK 301, PK 368, and PK 369) and Karachi to Turbat (PK 501 and PK 502).

Flights out of Lahore, such as PK 302, PK 303, and PK 306, were also impacted.

The airline’s problems were made worse by the cancellation of flights from Karachi to Sukkur (PK 536 and PK 537) and Karachi to Quetta (PK 310 and PK 311).

There were cancellations on the international front as well, affecting flights PK 322 and PK 323 from Lahore to Quetta as well as PK 242 from Dammam to Karachi.

On foreign lines, further difficulties were seen. Among those canceled were Islamabad-bound flights to Dubai (PK 233, PK 211), Abu Dhabi (PK 261, PK 262), Gilgit (PK 601, PK 602, PK 605, PK 606), and Quetta (PK 325 and PK 326).

Flights from Islamabad to Skardu (PK 451 and PK 452), Gilgit (PK 605 and PK 606), and Sukkur (PK 631 and PK 632) were also unable to take off.

Even the Doha-Islamabad flight PK 288 had to be canceled, seriously disrupting international traffic.

The official expressed regret for the issues the cancellations had created and stated that the management was making an effort to get customers on other flights.

The national airline was required to pay Rs 100 million each day under the terms of the deal that was made between PIA and PSO, but they only paid Rs 70 million.
