According to unconfirmed rumours, Pakistan’s educational institutions, including schools, may be shuttered for over a week because of the approaching general elections.

Although the official announcement is still pending in the first week of February 2024, unreliable news sources circulating online indicate that there will be eight nationwide holidays observed by schools and universities in anticipation of the polls, which are scheduled for February 8, 2024.

According to the statement, educational institutions and schools will be closed from February 4 to February 11. On February 12, classes will resume.

During elections, teachers will be assigned to voting places, and these positions will cause school buildings to close for a few days.

According to reports, a few days prior to the general elections, the ultimate decision about the closure of all schools would be made public. In light of the worsening security situation, authorities are considering extending the election vacations.

To guarantee a smooth election process, the administration plans to deploy representatives from many agencies, and paramilitary groups will work in tandem with law enforcement.
