Twitter now includes view counts for tweets

Views for their own tweets are beginning to appear for some Twitter users. On December 1st, Musk declared that all tweets would be able to use the feature. It would be “in a few more weeks,” he said when making the same promise a week later.

When you click on one of your posts, a counter appears, as has been noticed by people at The Verge. Despite some Twitter users reporting receiving the feature, it doesn’t seem to be accessible to all users as many are still unable to see it.

There is currently no new information offered by the feature. You could always enable analytics for your account and see how many impressions your tweets received. To accomplish this, click on the analytics button. It’s right there in front of you on the view counter.

Only if it allows you to view counts for other users’ tweets will this new feature be useful. However, since not everyone would want their opinions to be made public, the option to hide this counter should still be available.

It’s unclear whether Musk intended for users to see the number of views other people’s tweets receive. By comparing the feature to videos, whose views are visible to all users, Musk implied that you should be able to view how many views each user’s tweets have received. Musk has not tweeted about it, and Twitter has not yet responded to a request for comment.
