Due to the persistent pollution in the province, the Punjabi government decided to keep the schools closed on Friday and Saturday.

Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Moshin Naqvi, made this announcement at a news conference.

It is significant to remember that the ruling only pertains to the divisions of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, and Sahiwal.

The erection of air-purifying towers in Lahore was also announced by the interim chief minister. Additionally, Mohsin Naqvi made a significant statement in which he said that 10,000 electric motorcycles will be subsidised and given to students by the provincial government.

He continued by saying that the Chief Secretary had also proposed leasing e-bikes to government workers. The caretaker CM stated that he does not support the markets closing completely; thus, on Friday and Saturday only, they would be closed till 3 PM. All markets, however, will be closed on Sundays.

On Friday and Saturday, restaurants will not be permitted to open earlier than 3 p.m. Additionally, only cyclists will be allowed on Mall Road from morning until 5 p.m. every Sunday to tackle the smog.

Everyone was advised to follow the government’s mandate to frequently wear masks by the caretaker CM.
