Power blackout in Pakistan

0

With almost entire country plunged into darkness, Pakistan was hit by a major blackout during early hours of Sunday.

Omar Ayub, Pakistan’s power minister stated: “A countrywide blackout has been caused by a sudden plunge in the frequency in the power transmission system,”

Officials had told the people to remain in the state of calm as it could take a few hours for the whole system to be restored and back at working. Major cities including Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad were hit by the power blackout, and later it was assured that gradually it has been restored in almost all areas.

Currently a proper investigation is going on to get to the root cause of the problem as to why it happened and how something like this could be avoided to happen in the coming future.

Social media was filled with memes and concerns related to the blackout as there was no concrete reason or any further info about the whole situation.

Currently the electricity has been restored in almost all regions of Pakistan that were affected by the blackout.
