PM Shehbaz’s cabinet to take oath today

Monday, at 3 p.m., the federal cabinet is scheduled to take the oath of office after many days of deliberation on its formation, according to sources cited

The newly elected President Asif Ali Zardari will administer the oath at the event, which is expected to take place at the President House, according to the sources.

According to the sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif initially intended to form a modest government, but in the second phase, he would add additional ministers.

According to the reports, Tariq Fatemi will take his oath as the prime minister’s special assistant on foreign affairs, and former finance minister Ishaq Dar will be assigned the position of foreign minister in the new government.

Aurangzeb Khan will be in charge of the Finance Ministry, while Mohsin Naqvi, the former chief minister of Punjab, will be in charge of the Interior Ministry.

According to the reports, Azam Tarar, a seasoned senator from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-Nawaz), would take over the Ministry of Law; Attaullah Tarar would serve as the Minister of Information; and Khawaja Asif would lead the Ministry of Defense.

According to the sources, Shaza Fatima Khawaja will head the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, while Musadik Malik will take over as portfolio head of the Petroleum Ministry.

According to the reports, Ahad Cheema would be appointed as the prime minister’s adviser for the Establishment Division. Additionally, former chief minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal and Chaudhry Salik Hussain of the PML-Quaid will be joining the federal cabinet.

Politician Amir Muqam of the PML-N and head of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Abdul Aleem Khan, are also expected to be part of the federal government. Two portfolios in the federal cabinet will also be allocated to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan.

The federal cabinet was sworn in one week after Prime Minister Shehbaz became the nation’s 24th premier by taking the oath of office. A day earlier, President Zardari assumed the presidency with all state dignitaries present.
