Pakistan will play World Cup Matches in Chennai and Kolkatta; claims Indian Media

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stood firm in its position that it will not tour India until the BCCI agrees to hold the Asia Cup in Pakistan. However, the Indian media has reported that Pakistan is expected to participate in World Cup matches in Chennai and Kolkata.

According to recent reports in Indian media, the Pakistan cricket team might prefer to play the majority of its games during the ODI World Cup 2023 in Chennai and Kolkata. Pakistan is expected to feel at ease playing in these two cities because they were selected as secure locations for the team during previous tours.

This is a departure from earlier reports that claimed Pakistan’s World Cup matches would be held in Bangladesh.

When given the option, Pakistan would prefer to play the majority of its World Cup matches in Kolkata and Chennai, according to an Indian source. However, much will depend on what the BCCI and the Indian government decide.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are currently in discussion about this issue, and a decision is anticipated to be made in the best interest of all competing teams. The PCB has previously advised the ICC to hold the games at a neutral site because the ACC has already agreed to host India’s matches for the Asia Cup outside of Pakistan.

It is important to note that the ICC will need to handle this delicate situation with caution, particularly in light of the PCB’s clear statement that Pakistan will not agree to play in India if that country does not visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup.
