The Finance Department has given info to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) about the federal government allocating resources worth Rs. 9.84 billion for the national carrier to pay the salary of its workers who had chosen for early retirement with the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS).

Based on the info, the sum has been moved to PIA’s account with the title ‘GOP Cash Support to PIACL For Voluntary Separation Scheme’ located on the Shaheed-e-Millat Road branch of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Karachi.

Over 2000 of PIA’s employees had chosen for the VSS but there had been a postponement in the allowance of the VSS funds, as a result of which which they had requested to the Supreme Court, looking for action against PIA for the issue. As a result, the funds have been moved to PIA’s account.

PIA had initiated the VSS as recompense for its workers who wanted to leave its service willingly
