Former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry was placed on physical remand for two days by the police on Sunday, according to a lower court in the federal capital.

Fawad was driven to court by Islamabad police in an armoured vehicle, his face covered with a black cloth. At the hearing were his siblings and wife, Hiba Chaudhry.

His brother and attorney, Faisal Chaudhry, took issue with the Islamabad Police’s decision to conceal Fawad’s face with a black cloth.

The court approved a two-day remand for Fawad, despite the prosecution’s plea for a five-day one.

When the court heard the FIR against Fawad, it became evident that he had been arrested on suspicion of accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000,000 from a job applicant.

The complainant, Muhammad Zaheer, said that when he asked for his money back, Fawad threatened to murder him.

Fawad, however, voiced worries regarding the complainant’s absence from the hearing in front of the court. He also disclosed to the court that he had a lung ailment that required medical attention.
