CM Maryam approves the ‘Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card’

The “Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card” was authorised by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

At a special meeting on agricultural changes on Friday, which the chief minister led, it was agreed.

The chief minister was informed at the meeting that 24,800 farmers will receive the newest farming equipment at a cost of 7 billion rupees spread over two years.

In addition, Maryam Nawaz expressed optimism that farmers would profit from real fertilisers and medications and that each district would create a model agricultural centre as part of the first phase of the programme while approving the Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card.

The announcements state that loans of 30,000 rupees per acre to buy high-quality seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides will be made available to 500,000 small farmers on easy terms within a year, and that the Act will be amended to stop the sale of fraudulent agricultural pesticides and fertilisers.

The ongoing announcements also disclosed that the Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card would offer a range of subsidies, that the private sector would help establish model agricultural centres throughout Punjab, and that the centres would house resources for research on climate change, speed breeding, germplasm resources, genomics, and other areas.

Additionally, the Punjab Agriculture Research Board and Punjab Seed Corporation were founded. It was also decided to collaborate with China to develop a research centre valued at Rs 2 billion in Faisalabad.

In addition, the establishment of centres of excellence for research and development on cotton, wheat, and rice crops was approved, and the Agriculture Culture Department was directed to gather extensive data on seasonal output and demand.

During the meeting, a study was done to suggest laws that would forbid the use of agricultural land for residential purposes. It was also decided to recruit 500 agricultural graduates and modernise the Agricultural Extension Wing with new technology.
