The absence of DRS technology during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Pakistan-Bangladesh series was allegedly due to pressure from ICC Chairman Jay Shah, sources have revealed.

According to inside sources, the decision by Hawk-Eye, the company responsible for providing DRS technology, not to send its staff to Pakistan came despite a ceasefire in the region. The company informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of its refusal to operate in the country.

Hawk-Eye cited the ongoing conflict and perceived security concerns as the reason for its decision, stating that it did not wish to deploy its personnel under current circumstances. In response, the PCB assured the company that there were no security threats in Pakistan. It emphasised that international players were currently in the country and offered presidential-level security measures, including bulletproof vehicles, for Hawk-Eye staff.

Despite these assurances, the company remained firm in its stance.

Sources claimed that ICC Chairman Jay Shah influenced the decision in a bid to undermine the remaining PSL matches and upcoming series in Pakistan.
