Pakistan’s world-renowned javelin throw champion and Olympic gold medalist, Arshad Nadeem, has once again demonstrated his elite form by comfortably qualifying for the final of the Asian Athletics Championship 2025.
He is joined in the final by fellow Pakistani athlete Yasir Sultan, marking a proud moment for Pakistan’s athletics community.
Competing in Group A of the javelin throw qualifying round, Arshad delivered a remarkable 86.34-meter throw on his very first attempt, the longest of the round, making him a top contender for the gold medal in the upcoming final.
2025 Asian Athletics Championships
The 2025 Asian Athletics Championships is the 26th edition of the Asian Athletics Championships. It is being held from 27 to 31 May 2025 in Gumi, South Korea.
This is the third time South Korea have hosted the championships after the 1975 and 2005 editions.
Arshad’s powerful performance has not only secured his spot in the final but also reaffirmed his status as a favourite to win the event. Meanwhile, India’s Yashvir Singh, also competing in the qualifiers, recorded a 76.67-meter throw on his first attempt.
Following Arshad’s lead, Yasir Sultan also made an impressive entry into the final by achieving a 76.07-meter throw on his first attempt.
Arshad Nadeem has been in the global spotlight since his historic 92.97-meter throw at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he won the gold medal and set a new Olympic record. That throw remains the best of his career and cemented his place among the world’s elite javelin throwers.
His return to form at the Asian Athletics Championship is a promising sign for Pakistan, as the country looks forward to strong representation in regional and global athletics.
